Ranger Guided Cave Tour
Join a ranger every Saturday afternoon for a tour through one of the monument's lava tubes. Lava Beds National Monument is on the slopes of the Medicine Lake volcano and has the highest concentration of lava tubes in the country. These unique caves are very different than what you may have experienced. The ranger will take you through one of the developed lava tubes, relating the geologic and cultural history of these unique places.
Keep in mind:
- Joining a cave tour in first come-first serve. Sign up at the visitor center the day of the walk. We do not take reservations.
- Please bring either a headlamp or flashlight.
- If you want to protect your head, please bring a bicycle helmet, or at least a head cover
- Closed toed shoes are recommended.
- The average temperature of the lava tubes are 55 degrees. Bring a wrap if you think you will need one.
