Description
"I CAN MAKE GEORGIA HOWL": SHERMAN'S MARCH TO THE SEA, NOVEMBER-DECEMBER 1864
Join James A. Garfield NHS staff and volunteers at Mentor Public Library on the second Wednesday of each month for a new talk on “Leaders & Legacies of the Civil War Era.” Union Maj. Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman captured the important Confederate city of Atlanta in September 1864. He then turned his eyes to the Atlantic coast, intending to march across Georgia and then turn north toward South Carolina. That journey across Georgia has gone down in history as “the March to the Sea.” Learn more about this famous and fascinating event in this program originally presented in 2014. Program is free of charge; attendees are welcome to bring lunch and eat during the talk. Please make a free reservation by calling Mentor Public Library at 440-255-8811. SPEAKER: Todd Arrington, James A. Garfield NHS.
