Fire Point Hike

Effigy Mounds National Monument

  • Every day at 10:30 AM from June 04, 2022 to September 05, 2022
  • Free

Join a park ranger on a 2-mile hike up to Fire Point.  Discover an ancient landscape where indigenous peoples had once flourished, and for such a long time, best guesses are all modern science can come up with.  Trace the shapes of Little Bear and Great Bear, animal mounds built for ceremony, many having been used for over a thousand years. Respectfully walk amongst the Old Ones still resting within the conical (burial) mounds, and take some time to get to know their home.
