Grayson Brockamp and the New Orleans Wildlife Band at 419 Decatur St
Grayson Brockamp and the New Orleans Wildlife Band
Saturday at 3:00 pm
At the National Park Service French Quarter Visitor Center
419 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA
Bassist, composer, and arranger Grayson Brockamp’s repertoire spans Wayne Shorter to Eminem and Geri Allen to Busta Rhymes. Equally at home singing a traditional New Orleans tune or delivering a spoken-word poem about a feisty chihuahua, Brockamp explores the shared threads connecting blues, gospel, hip-hop, and other musical traditions.
When he moved to New Orleans he quickly found steady work playing alongside legendary musicians including Nicholas Payton, Jason Marsalis, Herlin Riley, Shannon Powell, Wessel Anderson, and Adonis Rose. He played with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra from 2015-2017 and regularly contributed arrangements for the 18 piece band.
He also formed the New Orleans Wildlife Band. Their current selection of music is informed by the blues, gospel music, and rhythms from all over the world. The band features the vocal talents of all its members, creating intricate 4-part harmonies.
