Talkin' Jazz with Fred Kasten: In Concert is a captivating blend of interesting talk and great music featuring top jazz artists in New Orleans, hosted monthly by award-winning radio producer and interviewer Fred Kasten.

This event will be a mix of interview and live performance.

Fred Kasten is an independent contributing radio producer/host at WWNO. After working at WWNO for over 20 years as an on-air talent, producer, and program director, Fred retired from full-time work in May of 2007. Fred is a native of Mobile, Alabama, a graduate of the University of Alabama, and a long-time resident of New Orleans. In addition to his work at WWNO, Fred develops independent audio projects from a home studio, producing radio features, commercials, and podcasts. Fred also does marketing and media consulting for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Pianist, composer, and producer Lawrence Sieberth is at home in virtually any mu-sical setting. While based in jazz, Lawrence’s musical vision is not limited by genre barriers—he prefers to integrate the many facets of music and performance into an engaging, inclusive experience. His own neo-bop improvisations and experimental inclinations combine with his classical and world music influences providing an ex-tensive musical vocabulary for both performances and compositions for television, film, and stage.

His local ensembles vary from New Orleans traditional to questing improvisations, from the avantgarde to mainstream jazz and R&B. He has performed at virtually every venue in New Orleans, from small clubs to the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival where he has been a regular featured artist and musical director of over 30 years. His collaborations with notable local performers include: Johnny Adams, Charles Neville, Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas, Tony Dagradi, John Vidacovich, Luther Kent, Brian ‘Breeze’ Cayolle, Victor Goines, and Jason Marsalis. He presently performs and tours with Gerald French & the Original Tuxedo Jazzband and vocalist Germaine Bazzle.

This program takes place inside the third-floor Performance Center of the New Orleans Jazz Museum, 400 Esplanade Ave. Admission is free and open to the public, seating is limited and offered first come, first serve.
