Anniversary of the Battle of Fort Stevens
The 159th Battle of Fort Stevens Commemoration will be Music and The Defense of the Capital, Saturday, July 15, 2023 (10am – 4pm) at Fort Stevens. Music was important to the soldiers defending Washington. This year musical performers include the 8th “Green Machine” Regiment Band, Doug Jimerson & the Civil War Comrades, Jubilee Voices, a Fife & Drum Corps, a bugler, plus Civil War era dancing for all who wish to learn.
• Opening ceremony and speakers throughout the day, starting at 10:15am.
• Military & civilian reenactors, historical interpreters, living history displays, and children's activities.
• 3pm “walk and talk” at nearby Battleground Cemetery.
Sponsored by the the National Park Service in Cooperation with the Alliance to Preserve the Civil War Defenses of Washington
Free and open to the public.
