Evacuation Day Celebration
On November 25th, 1783, George Washington came down Manhattan to take back New York City while the British left the city.
The new nation celebrated the end of war and the hopes of "a more equal union".
Please join Federal Hall National Memorial as we commemorate the 240th Anniversary of the British evacuation of New York.
Michael Grillo will be here as George Washington. He will give a day-to-day account leading up to Evacuation Day.
Lady Washington will also make an appearance. She will discuss her anticipation of having George Washington home.
Norman Goeben will retrace Washington's route through Manhattan
Linda Russell will perform 18th century music in the Rotunda
