Description

Pinkster Celebration
Saturday June 7th, 202511 AM - 1 PM
Join us for a commemorative celebration of Pinkster, a historic holiday that marks the arrival of spring and honors African American culture.
What is Pinkster?Pinkster is recognized as the oldest African-American holiday in the United States, celebrated since the colonial period. This tradition has roots tracing back to the fifteenth century in the Bantu regions of Congo and Angola. The name “Pinkster” comes from the Dutch word “Pinksteren,” referring to Pentecost or the Seventh Sunday after Easter.
Since the 1970s, Pinkster festivals have been revived across New York City, celebrating the rich African American history and culture of our vibrant community.
