Ranger-led Program -- Youth Celebrate Kentucky Free Fishing Weekend by Learning to Fish at Big South Fork NRRA
Big South Fork NRRA is encouraging school-age children to begin the summer season by learning to fish with a park ranger.
On Saturday June 1st, 2024, at 10:00 am ET, join a ranger at Alum Ford in Kentucky to introduce children ages 12 and under to the fundamentals of fishing, help identify some native fish of the area, and why a river ecosystem is so important. At the end of the program, youth will receive a fishing pole and the official Junior Ranger Angler Badge. Fishing items are limited to first-time participants only.
Free Fishing Weekend in Kentucky is always the first weekend of June. Anyone (resident or non-resident) of any age can fish free without a license in Kentucky’s public waters, agency owned and operated lakes, and parks.
This program is made possible by a Junior Ranger Angler grant from the National Park Foundation.
