1860s 4th of July Ball

Featuring living history performers dressed in the 1860s' finest fashions. The afternoon will start with Anne Williams reciting the Declaration of Independence from memory at noon. After that, the Independence Silver Band from Mt. Vernon, IL will be performing as Deborah Hyland calls dances for the performers. Everyone is welcome to stop by, enjoy the live music, and join in on the dances. If you own 1860s period clothing and would like to volunteer for the event in an official capacity, please mail the park's volunteer coordinator at barbara_michel@nps.gov.
