Description

Saturday October 5th, Coronado National Memorial will be celebrating the cultural and natural diversity of southeast Arizona and northwest Mexico. The Borderlands Festival Fronterizo will highlight music, dance, and theater from the borderlands region. Archaeologists, biologists, park rangers, and conservation groups from across the region will be joining the party as well. We invite all to come and celebrate our region’s natural and cultural heritage – past, present, and future. The event will kick off at 10:00 am, with the first performance scheduled for 10:30 am. Performers will include a mixture of talents from the borderlands region. Kids and families can join park rangers for games in the picnic area. Learn more about the plants and animals in southern Arizona and Sonora from local conservation groups and from Mexican National Parks representatives. Visitors should be prepared to park at Valley View School near the junction of Highway 92 and Coronado Memorial Rd. Festival-goers will be shuttled from the parking area to the festival at the picnic grounds. Due to the shortage of parking inside Coronado National Memorial boundaries, we ask visitors without disabilities to park at the designated parking area. Be sure to bring sunscreen, hat, water bottle, and consider bringing a camp chair or beach chair to enjoy the performances. Food will be available for purchase at the festival courtesy of local food trucks (cash only). Coronado National Memorial is located in the Huachuca Mountains and shares its southern boundary with Sonora, Mexico.
