History of Women's Protests
From the 1913 Suffrage Procession to the 2017 Women’s March, Washington DC has been home to some of the largest demonstrations organized by women in US history. Join us for a pop-up exhibit in the library that explores the history of women’s protest featuring objects from the collections of the Alice Paul Center for Gender Justice and the National Woman's Party. The exhibit highlights materials women used in public protests during the suffrage fight, the fight for the Equal Rights Amendment, and beyond.
Ready to join in the movement for equality? After viewing the exhibit, make your own protest sign and button to take with you.
Stop in any time between 10 am and 2 pm to view the special exhibit, then explore the permanent exhibit in the museum. Ranger led museum tours are available at 10 am and 2 pm.
