Description
This year, we are honored to celebrate International Women's Day with Christa Brown, the founder and leader of the Free Soil Arts Collective. Brown is an actress and storyteller who is based out of Lowell, MA. Some of her recent projects include the staging of "Hair Tales: Stories of Black Hair-i-Tage," and the creation of an original black history play with students from the Collegiate Charter School of Lowell (debuting February 2020). During this discussion, we will talk about Brown's work in Lowell, the origins of the Free Soil movement (and the art collective she runs), and some of the collective's upcoming projects. We will discuss the importance of "under-explored" or "underrepresented" stories and the power they have to shape our culture.
From their page: "The Free Soil Arts Collective is an interdisciplinary arts organization serving the greater Merrimack Valley in Massachusetts. Our mission is to create and support artistic works that amplify and strengthen the voices of underrepresented communities."
Join us for this free dialogue on Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. in the Boott Cotton Mills Museum (second floor events center). Program is open to all
