Special Event
Throughout December 31, 1862, four Confederate attacks sought to break the left end of the Union line. The terrible fighting that began at 10 AM and ended as the sun set left the fields between the Stones River and the Nashville Pike covered with dead and wounded earning this place the nickname, Hell's Half Acre.
Volunteers from the 8th Tennessee Infantry, CSA will present infantry demonstrations as a ranger shares the story of each of these attacks and their role in Battle of Stones River.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
10 AM - Chalmer's Brigade Opens the Fight
11 AM - Donelson's Brigade Hits Hard
1 PM - Breckinridge's First Wave: The Attack of Adams' and Jackson's Brigades
2 PM - The Final Assault by Preston's and Palmer's Brigades
3 PM - Hell's Half Acre - Program covers all four attacks.
