Join San Antonio Poet Laureate Andrea "Vocab" Sanderson and dance artist Amber Ortega for this DreamWeek virtual poetry performance on January 23. Experience original poetry, song, and dance on Facebook Live with the beautiful backdrop of Mission San Juan.
DreamWeek celebrates our humanity by creating environments for civil and civic engagement in San Antonio during the week of Martin Luther King Day. This virtual poetry performance focuses on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the midst of uncertainty, insecurities and simply not knowing. It is about identity, heritage, and finding peace with who you are.
Andrea "Vocab" Sanderson is a San Antonio native. She is the first black, Poet Laureate of San Antonio (2020-2023.) Andrea has been a performance artist for over twenty years and she serves as a Teaching Artist for Gemini Ink.
Amber Ortega is a choreographer, director, writer, and educator. She enjoys
creating dialogue between artists with varying practices to encourage broader ideas of art and art-making.
