New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park presents the Derrick Freeman & Paul Longstreth presentation entitled “New Orleans Music.” Derrick Freeman, a highly sought after drummer and percussionist, has achieved musical acclaim for his commanding technique and style, rooted in the characteristic funky drum beats of New Orleans. Paul Longstreth's musical background began in church, where his father was a Methodist minister and orchestral director and his mother was an active participant in Church music, education, and ministry programs. The duo recorded the video in residence as you may notice that Derek and his drums are set-up in the living room and that is where the video begins with Derek, positioned on screen left, providing most of the introductions.  Paul performs on a grand piano that is positioned at the far end of the living room. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the funky and educational jazz that is about to come your way!
