#America250 Program – The events of April 19, 1775, marked a turning point in history, as the first shots of the American Revolution were fired in Lexington, Massachusetts—an act that would ignite the struggle for independence. Known as the “Shot Heard ‘Round the World,” this moment signified the beginning of open conflict between colonial militias and British forces.

Just two months after this historic battle, the Continental Congress, responding to a request from General George Washington, established the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps. This corps was created to provide spiritual support and guidance to the soldiers of the Continental Army, helping them endure the hardships of war with faith and resilience.

Join Steve Andersen, a volunteer at Moores Creek National Battlefield, on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM for a special program on the Chaplain Corps and its founding 250 years ago. Following the program, there will be a guided tour of the battlefield.
