Lunar Eclipse 2026
Join a ranger to view the 2026 lunar eclipse at the Saddlehorn Picnic Area parking lot. Eclipse coverage will be 96% and we'll have telescopes set up for you to get a closer look! Partial eclipse begins at 8:33 and full eclipse is at 10:13.
Please arrive 15 minutes early if you're driving, so that headlights don't affect everyone's night vision. Bringing pets is not recommended for safety concerns. Please bring a chair, water, and insect repellent.
The monument is open 24 hours a day, and the eclipse can be viewed from multiple locations. Independence Monument View and Grand View are great options. Please be careful while driving, as wildlife could be in the roadway.
This is a weather permitting event and may be cancelled in the event of thunderstorms.
