A piece of metal lays in the coals

Blacksmithing at Mabry Mill (Mabry Mill - Milepost 176)

Blue Ridge Parkway

  • Every week on Sunday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 11:00 AM from July 31, 2025 to September 28, 2025
  • Free

A piece of blazing hot metal is pulled from the forge at roughly 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit and set on the anvil. Whack! Whack! Whack! The Blacksmith looks down at their already cooling metal and decides it needs to be warmed back up in the coals. What is the Blacksmith making or fixing? That is for you to come see!

Join Park Staff at the Blacksmith shop at historic Mabry Mill to discover the tools of the trade and how blacksmiths helped shape life along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
