Introduction to the Overland Campaign
In the spring of 1864, General Ulysses S. Grant, in command of all the US Armies but travelling with the Army of the Potomac, marched his army south. His target was Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. The fights that followed became known as the Overland Campaign. Join park staff outside Ellwood Manor for a brief introduction to the Battle of the Wilderness and the Overland Campaign.
