Description

Point Reyes National Seashore invites you to the Thirty-ninth Annual Big Time Festival at Kule Loklo, Saturday, July 20, 2019, 10 am to 4 pm.

Please join us for a new chapter of Big Time, a gathering that evokes the past while exploring the present and future of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria and Native California. Walk through Kule Loklo with an appetite for listening, talking, learning, and storytelling with demonstrators, allies, park staff, volunteers, and tribal members. Traditional dancers are scheduled to share dances. Learn more about the Coast Miwokand other local American Indians now and going forward at a variety of informational booths. Join park staff, partners, and volunteers in programs throughout the day to discuss questions of place, land, and belonging.

Lectures at the Fire Circle at 11 am

  • Alicia Retes "How Music Was Brought to California Indians"
  • Henry Frank "My Journey To and From San Quentin"

This event is great for the whole family and is free of charge. Bring a picnic lunch and spend the day.

Please be aware that dogs and alcoholic beverages are not allowed at Kule Loklo.

The trailhead for the 0.4-mile long trail leading to Kule Loklo is at the north end of the paved parking lot at the Bear Valley Visitor Center.
