Description

Called the "Pied Piper of Louisiana Music Traditions," Johnette Downing shares "Bamboula Rhythm" with kids of all ages via a video for Parks to Kids Day. Bamboula rhythms are the traditional African drumbeats that form the basis of many kinds of Louisiana music, and Downing's ability to turn any performance into a dance party is sure to make this a fun way to discover local music history. Downing's books and musical programs for kids are favorites at New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park. Bonus: after Downing's video, stick around for music for kids with Ranger Jon.

The video premieres at noon on Saturday, May 16, on the park's Facebook page NolaJazzNHP
