This presentation by David L. Preston, Ph.D., Westvaco Professor of National Security Studies at The Citadel, will be followed by a round table discussion.
Panelists for the discussion will be Dr. Preston, Erica Nuckles -Director of History and Collections at Fort Ligonier, Brady Crytzer - Professor of History at Robert Morris University and Author of BATTLEFIELD PENNSYLVANIA, and Brian Reedy - Site Manager of Fort Necessity National Battlefield.
Professor Preston is an award-winning historian of early America with a special interest in war and peace among the French, British, and Indian peoples of the eighteenth century. He is the award winning author of THE TEXTURE OF CONTACT (2009) and BRADDOCK'S DEFEAT: THE BATTLE OF THE MONONGAHELA AND THE ROAD TO REVOLUTION. He also gained "ground truth" from his extensive fieldwork, such as walking Braddock's Road and canoeing along the Allegheny River and French Creek. He is currently the Westvaco Professor of National Security Studies at The Citadel, where he teaches cadets and officer candidates about U.S. military history and early American history.
