Description
In honor of the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park and Preservation District presents a special temporary exhibit titled "The 1965 Voting Rights Act."
Open and free to the public from August 6–31, 2025, this exhibit explores the pivotal role Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) played in the fight for voting rights.
Visitors will gain insight into the movement’s strategies, leaders King and SCLC Board Secretary Dorothy Cotton-and how their efforts helped influence the landmark legislation signed into law on August 6, 1965, by President Lyndon B. Johnson.
