Description
Every Friday in October, come to Fort Hunt's Pavilion A to watch the story of World War II unfold through four free movies, each featuring characters with disabilities.
October 4: The King's Speech (2010) Rating: R
England's Prince Albert must ascend the throne as King George VI, but he has a speech impediment. Albert's wife, Elizabeth, hires a speech therapist to help hur husband overcome his stammer and deliver the speech of his life.
The King's Speech was nominated for and won several Academy Awards in 2011, including Best Picture.
October 11: Twelve O'Clock High (1949) Rating: Not Rated
An American Air Force unit stationed in England suffers post-traumatic stress from losing so many airmen. Brigadier General Frank Savage is assigned the task of whipping the unit back into shape. His tough leadership is initially resented by not only his pilots but his second-in-command. With the help of a hotshot flying ace and a sympathetic administrator, the unit pulls together into a gung-ho fighting crew.
Twelve O'Clock High was nominated for several Academy Awards in 1950, including Best Picture.

Fred, Al, and Homer are three World War II veterans facing difficulties as they reenter civilian life in the same mid-western town. Fred suffers post-traumatic stree and war flashbacks while working as a soda jerk. Al returns to his lucrative job as an executive at a local bank but struggles with depression. Before shipping out, Homer was a star high school athlete from a middle class family. He was engaged to marry his next door neighbor, but after having lost both of his hands in the war, he is afraid that she will not love him anymore.
