Description
From its natural beauty to its intriguing history, there’s a lot to love about Indiana Dunes National Park. Get to know the area better at a program on May 5, preceding our Logs to Lustrons tour on May 6. Indiana Landmarks and the Indiana Dunes National Park (IDNP) team up to present an illustrated talk highlighting the park’s history and preservation, including a deeper look at the heritage of the Calumet Region.
You’ll also hear a brief preview of areas featured on the May 6 Logs to Lustrons tour, including rehabilitation work planned for the Good Fellow Club Youth Camp Lodge, a rustic Adirondack-style landmark built as a dining and recreation area for the camp that served children of U.S. Steel employees from 1941-1976. Even without the tour, the talk will deepen your appreciation of the National Park’s many historic features.
The evening takes place at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Central Time with a reception and light refreshments. The talk runs from 7-8:40 p.m., followed by more refreshments and Q&A session that concludes at 9 p.m. The center is accessible to all.
