Margie Perez is a talented singer, songwriter, and bandleader whose innate kindness and love for music inflects every performance. Perez offers a versatile blend of Latin, blues, and contemporary pop tunes in her repertoire, all shaded with New Orleans rhythmic energy. Perez performs as a solo artist and co-leads the hot Latin Big Band Muevelo, and heads up the smaller Latin ensemble Margie Perez and Her Grupo Latino. Audiences love her groups’ energies, as well as singing along to her hits like “Ooh Baby La La.”

Perez also lends her captivating vocals to the Afro-Cuban sacred music band Michael Skinkus & Moyuba, Kumasi Afrobeat Orchestra, N.O.B.A.B.E. (the powerhouse collective of female musicians), and The M&M's, a supergroup featuring members of Galactic, Papa Mali, and John Medeski. Margie Perez has collaborated with numerous talented musicians in New Orleans, including serving as a backup singer for The Meters guitar legend, Leo Nocentelli and the occasional one-off special event, such as singing with Harry Connick Jr. on his 2020 CBS special, “United We Sing.” Perez is also involved in bettering her community through her work with local non-profits. She has won a slew of awards, been featured on Gwen Thompkin’s national radio show, “Music Inside Out,” and was the recipient of the Positive Vibrations Foundation’s Heartbeat Musicians Award.
