Junior Ranger Day: Celebrate & Commemorate

Join park staff, volunteers, and the Holmes Brigade Living Historians for a day to learn about the history and stories of Wilson's Creek over 250 years and become a junior ranger!

Activities for the day will include:

9:00 am – 4:00 pm | Junior Ranger Station | Visitor Center

9:00 am – 3:00 pm | Living History Encampment | Visitor Center

9:30 am – 10:30 am | A Hike Through History | Stop 3

9:00 am – 11:00 am | Pop-Up: Life Liberty, & Pursuit of Happiness | Visitor Center

10:00 am – 3:00 pm | Life in Camp Photobooth | Visitor Center

10:00 am – 12:00 pm | Musket & Cannon Drills (non-firing) | Visitor Center

10:00 am – 12:00 pm  & 1:00pm – 4:00 pm | Civil War Era Cricket | Ray House

11:00 am – 12:00 pm | Musket Firing Demonstrations with the Holmes Brigade | Stop 5

11:00 am – 1:00 pm | Junior Naturalist Activity | TBD

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm | Design a Unit Flag Craft | Visitor Center

3:00 pm – 3:30 pm | Musket Firing Demonstrations with the Holmes Brigade | Stop 5

We do our best to ensure particpants of all abilities can join. Hike Through History occurs on a trail of about a half mile. The trail is steep at the beginning and end, and is graveled. For questions or requests related to accessibility, please call the accessibility coordinator at 417-366-9145.

This event is free to attend.

Location

Please check in at the visitor center to start your day by selecting from a variety of junior ranger booklets. Then make your way through the battlefield to different activities at the Ray House, Stop 3, and Stop 5.

Schedule

Activities will be occurring throughout the day but kick off at 9am and wrap up by 4pm.
