The Alliance to Preserve the Civil War Defenses of Washington, in cooperation with the National Park Service, will host theĀ 161st anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Fort Stevens on July 12 from 10 am to 3 pm. This special event will feature historians, storytellers, and a keynote address by Dr. Benjamin Franklin Cooling, III. There will also be activities for the whole family, including living history demonstrations, live music, 19th-century children's games and crafts, history talks, and a guided walk from Fort Stevens to Battleground National Cemetery.
