Description: Join Rock Creek Park for Fort Stevens Day, a family-friendly celebration commemorating the Battle of Fort Stevens, the only Civil War battle fought in Washington, D.C., and the only time a sitting U.S. President came under enemy fire. Experience the story of July 1864 through living history demonstrations, music, storytelling, historical interpreters, hands-on activities, and interactive exhibits that bring the Civil War Defenses of Washington to life.

Pick up a Civil War Camp Activity Card and explore the event through a series of engaging stations. Complete challenges, collect stickers, meet historical figures, and discover how soldiers and civilians helped defend the nation's capital.
