Description
Did you know that Bent’s Old Fort was used as a Stagecoach Station for almost the same length of time that it had been a Fur Trade Fort? From 1860-1875 the fort was used as a Home Station for a series of stage lines and was also a US Post Office for much of that time.
In 1865 the Civil War was finally over, and the area was still reeling from the aftermath of the Sand Creek Massacre a year earlier. Come experience the fort at this time of incredible transitions, and hear the different perspectives of Native Americans, Stage Company Employees and Passengers, Soldiers, Freighters, and Buffalo Hunters. See how they lived and why they were here. This will be incredibly different then any other living history program you have seen at the fort!
See news release for a schedule of the event.
