Description

Saguaro Studies and Sketches

Art in the Park on August 27, 2022 at the Rincon Mountain Visitor Center

The saguaro cactus forests of the Rincon Mountain foothills have been monitored for over 80 years -- one of the longest scientific studies of plants in all the National Parks. Today citizen scientists play a vital role in adding to our understanding of this iconic American cactus.

This event will feature:

• An introduction from a park biologist chronicling the past and mapping the future of Saguaro National Park's namesake

• Instruction in pen-and-ink drawing techniques (materials provided)

• A chance to sketch your own artistic impression of the saguaro, world-famous symbol of The West.

Programs will be offered throughout the day at the visitor center:

• 8 am

• 9 am

• 10 am

• 11 am

• 3 pm
