Winter Tree Identification Hike

Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park

Special Event
  • Mar 25, 2023 at 9:30 AM
  • Free

Once the leaves fall off, all trees can start to look the same to the untrained eye. However, with a little knowledge on the different clues trees provide through their three B’s (buds, bark, branches) you’ll be able to identify any tree even in the winter! Come take a hike lead by our Natural Resources team through the fields of Blow-me-Down Farms at Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park to learn the basics of Winter tree identification. This workshop will take place outdoors so please dress appropriately. Attendance is limited to 50 people.

This event is part of the Working Woodlands series. These workshops are designed to connect nature enthusiasts and land-owners with natural resource professionals, to provide them with the skills and knowledge to promote land stewardship. They are held both virtually and in-person throughout the year. After attending a workshop, you can expect to come away with knowledge about land stewardship and the skills to take it home and practice in your own backyard. Workshops are co-sponsored by Vermont Woodlands Association, Vermont Coverts: Woodlands for Wildlife, Billings Farm and Museum, and the National Park Service.
