Join the National Park Service for Frederick Douglass Family Day!

Come out to Anacostia Park and explore your own physical and mental well-being surrounded by community and the influence of Anacostia's historical giant: Frederick Douglass!

Events will include:

11:00am - 12:00pm - Meet Frederick Douglass!

Meet Frederick Douglass - a performance and talk with Frederick Douglass reenactor Nathan Richardson.

12:00pm - 4:00pm

Enjoy various activities such as bike rides, yoga, 19th century lawn games, live music, and storytelling.

These events are being held at Anacostia Park near the Skating Pavilion, 1500 Anacostia Drive, S.E., Washington, D.C. 20020

Shuttle Bus will pick up at the following locations:

  1. Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, 1411 W Street SE, Wash. DC
  2. Anacostia High School, 1601 16th Street SE, Wash DC

Shuttles will drop off passengers in the parking lot behind the Anacostia Park Skating Pavilion.

There will be 2 buses and one will depart roughly every 15 minutes from the skate pavilion to complete the circuit from the pavilion to the Frederick Douglass House and then to Anacostia High School. 

The final pick-up from the skating pavilion will be about 4:10 pm.
