Alibates Star Party
Springtime is a great time to explore the wonders of the night sky at Alibates Visitor Center! On May 13th, join Dr. Arthur Schneider of Amarillo College for a free and open-to-the-public star gazing party sponsored by the National Park Service. Bring along a comfy chair and blanket, as well as a flashlight, and you will be all set for a night full of incredible sights.
As the sun sets, you’ll be able to gaze at a variety of stars and planets through large telescopes set up at Alibates. View the distant galaxies, soaring star clusters, and brilliant double stars. Count the impressive number of stars dotting the dark skies and explore the night-time sky in a unique way.
Alibates is an ideal spot for star gazing because of its lack of light pollution and wide-open spaces, perfect for taking in the stars. You will be amazed by the number of stars you can see and the variety of celestial bodies you can discover. The star-filled sky is sure to leave you and your family in awe and wonder!
Whether you are a novice stargazer, or a seasoned sky-watcher, the first annual Alibates Star Party is an event you won’t want to miss this spring. Mark your calendars, bring the family and friends, and enjoy a night under the stars.
