Description
Location: Central, Michigan
Description:
The Central Mine was one the earliest and most successful mines in the Keweenaw Peninsula. By the time it closed in 1898, it produced nearly 52 million pounds of copper. The site that was once home to over 1,200 people is now preserved by the Keweenaw County Historical Society.
Multiple trails were constructed in the mid-2000s to allow visitors to see the ruins of this once bustling mine town. Today, those trails are overgrown, and we need your help to clear them back out!
