Description

In commemoration of Memorial Day weekend, Shiloh National Military Park will host a Descendants' Reunion on Saturday, May 25. This event welcomes all descendants of soldiers who fought in the Battle of Shiloh, and the Siege and Battle of Corinth, during the Civil War.

Guests are invited to bring items such as photographs and letters, so the park can scan or photograph items for the park collection. These items can then be used for future exhibits and by historical researchers and authors.  A register will be available for guests fill out to record their ancestors' service in the battle. And a pin-up board will be on hand so all visitors to the park will see the names and service of these soldiers 157 years ago.

Descendants are invited to share stories and family lore with other descendants and park staff. Rangers will be on hand to mark on a map where their ancestors' unit was on the battlefield so guests can walk that hallowed ground. This is a specail time for descendants to see first-hand where their ancestors stood over 150 years ago, and learn more about this chapter in American history.

The reunion will take place from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm in the park's Visitor Center. For more information call 731-689-5696. No reservations are required.
