Description
he American Revolution was a break-away movement in which the various states declared that they are “Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown.” In an artistic sense, a similar revolutionary spirit flourished several centuries earlier. The European Renaissance of the 15th through 17th centuries was a break-away in artistic creativity from the strict rules of the Middle Ages.
The Jewels of the Renaissance concert at Morristown National Historical Park Museum Auditorium highlights this free artistic spirit. The program is a collection of pieces from the Renaissance that have endured the test of time. Several styles are represented: tuneful dances, melodies that seem to bounce off of each other, and soulful songs. Montclair Early Music, a group of amateur and professional musicians, is dedicated to sharing this music with the public. Instrumentatiaon will include recorders, guitars, percussion, and more. The concert will be interspersed with narration to provide perspective on the music. Come join us for an enjoyable musical experience. You’ll have fun, and the concert is free!
