Description

This March, Women's History Month will be celebrated at the Mary McLeod Bethune Council House National Historic Site, with the popular series Programs in the Parlor. Each program blends a short talk, music, and a special artifact.

On Saturday, March 21st, Dr. Janet Sims-Wood, noted librarian and author, will discuss her book "Dorothy Porter Wesley at Howard University: Building a Legacy of Black History," which highlights how Wesley helped to create a world-class archives, known today as the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center.

Discover how Wesley worked with Mary McLeod Bethune and the National Council of Negro Women to preserve African American women's history, and how the National Archives for Black Women's History, today administered by the National Park Service, is the largest repository of archival material relating to African American women in the United States.
