Celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the creation of the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park!
In 1987, New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park was designated by 100th U.S. Congress. Then it was officially established in 1994 in the heart of New Orleans. Since 1994 the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park has continued to serve the nation as a global leader in the promulgation of New Orleans jazz by enhancing and instilling a public appreciation and understanding of the origins, early history, development and progression of this uniquely American music art form. Through concerts, festivals, workshops, demonstrations, and diverse programming, New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park has kept jazz alive and well.
The Arrowhead Jazz Band brings together National Park Service Rangers and local musicians to perform traditional New Orleans jazz, blues, gospel, and original compositions.
The Arrowhead Jazz Band is anchored by New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park Rangers Jade Perdue (vocals/keyboards), Kerry Lewis, Sr. (bass), and Intern Saskia Walker (vocals).
They will be joined to day by special guest musicians Tim Brown II (vibraphone), Travis Simmons (drums), Gladney (saxophone), and James Jordan (vocals).
