Description

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore invites those interested in assisting the park to join in a National Trails Day project on Saturday, June 7. Park Rangers will meet volunteers at the Shauger Hill Trailhead Parking Lot at 9 a.m. and the event will conclude at 12 p.m.

After a brief safety conversation, volunteers will drive up the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive to the Lake Michigan Overlook and work together with park staff to put finishing touches on this year’s cleanup of Piece Stocking Scenic Drive’s Lake Michigan Overlook (Stop #9). Work will include opening sandbags, dumping and spreading out the sand, and removing any trash and debris found in the area. The sand is local to the area.

All equipment will be provided; please bring water, a snack, and wear clothing appropriate for the weather conditions including closed-toed shoes. There is no registration required, however the event will be limited to the first 40 people to arrive. All children under the age of 18 are required to have an adult present during the event. Volunteers will receive free Lakeshore entry for the day of the event.
