Description

On Saturday, December 14, Monocacy National Battlefield will be participating in the annual Frederick County Museums By Candlelight Festivities.

This year, due to the museum at Monocacy National Battlefield undergoing renovation, we will be joined by living history volunteers portraying life on the homefront during the holidays. They will discuss how families at home communicated with the soldiers at the front, how they sent them holiday boxes and what sorts of things were in said boxes.

The public is encouraged to ask questions and interact with staff and volunteers on this often overlooked aspect of the American Civil War.
