Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Living History Days
Prince William Forest Park was created as Chopawamsic Recreation Demonstration Area by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1936; groups of cabins in a forest oasis where children and young families from nearby cities could find 'relief' from the Great Depression. Join park rangers and volunteers at Prince William Forest Park as we celebrate the creation of the park by taking a deeper look at the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps and see what a day in the life of a CCC enrollee would look like! Watch living history reenactors demonstrate skills used to build and upkeep the cabin camps and see exhibits of CCC era tools and uniforms.
