A Walk Through Wheat

Join a park ranger for a 1.5-mile walk through the pre-Manhattan Project community of Wheat. Stops will include “downtown” Wheat, George Jones Memorial Baptist Church, Roane College site and the Crawford Cumberland Presbyterian Memorial. There will be stories about the development and significance of each site.

The Wheat site is on a wide trail making it acceptable for social distancing. Masks are encouraged. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and water to drink.

This event is free to attend.

Location

The Program will begin at Blair Road and the North Boundary Greenway. Wheat is located on Blair Road 0.3 miles off Oak Ridge Turnpike, in Oak Ridge TN 37830. If you need directions, or call us at 865-482-1942, or stop by the National Park Service desk at the Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge, for information.
