Description

On Saturday, January 20, 2024, join Upton Historical Society for a special presentation on the history of the Blackstone Valley.

From Providence, RI, to Worcester, MA, there are dozens of places with important industrial histories. While some communities in the Blackstone Valley still have towering factory buildings, Upton, MA, has been developed differently, maintaining rural character through decades of development. In its industrial heyday, Upton was home to a number of thriving hat, shoe, and boot companies, including the Knowlton Hat Factory. Learn about Upton's busy past, from head to toe, and how this place fits into the larger story of the Blackstone Valley.
