Description
Come join us for a 45-minute long Ranger led interview with Phyllis Yoyetewa. Learn about her lived experiences and connection to Grand Canyon as a Hopi tribal elder.
“[I was] raised to know the Hopi traditions and beliefs. I am trying to do the same with my children and grandchildren.”
Phyllis Yoyetewa grandparents raised her in the Grand Canyon Village. She is the 3rd generation of families who have lived at Grand Canyon. Phyllis worked as a National Park Service employee, first in fee collection and then as an interpretive ranger.
Phyllis is an affiliated tribal member from the Hopi/Apache nation, where Grand Canyon is an area that is very culturally sacred for her tribe and 10 other tribes.
