Description

On Sunday, May 18 at 2 PM, internationally recognized author and lecturer Richard Hutto will speak in the Orangery at Hampton NHS on his acclaimed new book. The Countess and the Nazis: An American Family’s Private War tells the fascinating story of a Hampton-connected member of American high society in Europe and her remarkable experiences before and during World War II.

Muriel White was the daughter of Henry White who grew up at Hampton and became a leading American diplomat, friend to presidents and royalty. Muriel was raised in privilege abroad and married a Prussian count. As World War II approached, she chose to fight tyranny and resist the Nazis. Her extraordinary story is based on sources including previously unpublished memoirs, declassified CIA documents, and the Henry White Family Papers at Hampton NHS.

Please join us on May 18 for this special event at Hampton NHS, 535 Hampton Lane, Towson, MD 21286.

The program is free to the public but is “first come, first served” with a limited attendance, so arrive early to claim your seat!
