Saturday, April 20th, 2019- Junior Ranger Day at Antietam
Young people ages four to twelve can participate in special programs, talk to park rangers, interact with volunteers portraying Civil War soldiers, and have the opportunity to become Junior Park Rangers.
Schedule of Events:
10:00 a.m-1:00 p.m. Become a Junior Ranger-Meets at tent in front of the park visitor center. Children (and their parents/chaperone) will complete the Junior Park Ranger Activity Books. Park rangers and park volunteers will be available to help. Upon completion, children will receive a Junior Park Ranger Badge and Certificate with their name on it. (Most activity books will take about one-hour to complete depending on age). There will also be an activity table set up at the tent with crafts and 19th Century games during this time.
10:30 a.m. Civil War Soldier Program-Meets at the New York State Monument near the visitor center. A living historian portraying a Civil War Soldier will discuss the life of the common soldier and present a firing demonstration. (1/2 hour)
