Description

Take a stroll with Anishinaabe historian Eric Hemenway to discuss treaties between tribal nations and the US.

The United States has entered into over 400 treaties with hundreds of tribes across the country. These government to government agreements have been instrumental in not only the how tribes operate today but the United States as well. This talk will discuss the basics of what Indian treaties are, with a focus on the treaties tribes in Michigan signed.
