Description

Jillian Cowles, author of Amazing Arachnids of Southern Arizona will be presenting at 11:00 AM. Presentation will be followed by book signings at 1:00pm.

Short Synopsis: "Arachnids have survived 400 million years of a changing planet. Our desert has presented some special challenges, selecting for extraordinary solutions and fantastic creatures. Included in this talk will be a sampler of interesting inhabitants, among them sand spiders, jumping spiders, spitting spiders, scorpions, pseudoscorpions, wind spiders, vineragoons, and giant desert velvet mites. And of course, we have tarantulas! Lots of tarantulas, from massive Aphonopelma chalcodes to the tiny Aphonopelma saguaro. We are incredibly lucky to be living in such a hotspot of arachnid diversity."
