Lyceum Lecture: "Remembering 1974: Our Origin Story"

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Special Event

Creating an innovative national park in Cuyahoga Valley wasn’t easy. The first attempt failed. In 1974, supporters from many Ohio communities rallied for the second legislative battle. They provided a slew of persuasive testimonies and letters of support.

Come hear eyewitness stories of our park's establishment. Loretta Neumann, former assistant to Representative John Seiberling, will share her memories of the Congressional hearings and other key moments. Afterward, a distinguished panel will discuss the conservation legacies of our park founders, with a special focus on the Seiberling and Regula families.

This season the Cuyahoga Valley Lyceum Series is bringing experts on history as well as current trends to Cuyahoga Valley National Park to share in-depth and engaging stories and discoveries commemorating the park’s 50th anniversary.
